LOS ANGELES — Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow’s injury has taken a more serious turn, with his recovery now expected to extend into mid-September. Initially placed on the injured list with elbow tendinitis, Glasnow’s progress has been slower than anticipated, leading to a longer absence from the team.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained that Glasnow has not been able to return to normal throwing and will need more time before rejoining the starting rotation. The team will monitor his progress closely in the coming days to determine the next steps for his recovery.
In another roster move, first baseman Freddie Freeman was given a day off to allow a hairline fracture in his finger to heal. Freeman had been playing through the injury but struggled at the plate, prompting the team to prioritize his recovery. Despite the four to six-week healing timeline for the fracture, Freeman is not expected to be placed on the injured list.
Additionally, outfielder Jason Heyward was released by the Dodgers and signed with the Houston Astros, while infielder Cavan Biggio joined the San Francisco Giants on a minor-league contract.
On the injury front, right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to make a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, and catcher Austin Barnes is expected to be activated from the injured list soon.
The Dodgers will face the Orioles on Wednesday, with Walker Buehler set to start on the mound against Corbin Burnes. The game will be broadcast on SportsNet LA, MLB Network, and 570 AM.
