The post office in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita will be dedicated to honor Vietnam War veteran William L. Reynolds in a ceremony on Aug. 27. Rep. Mike Garcia, who authored the bill designating the post office as the “William L. Reynolds Post Office Building,” will speak at the event alongside Reynolds’ widow, Meg. Reynolds, a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army’s Charlie Company, was wounded in the Mekong Delta in 1967 and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After returning home, he became an advocate for veterans, writing about veterans’ issues and playing a key role in the construction of a veterans memorial in Santa Clarita. Garcia praised Reynolds for his dedication to his country and fellow veterans, noting that Reynolds personally interviewed and wrote biographies for numerous local veterans. Reynolds was described as a true patriot who understood the sacrifices made by members of the veteran community, stating that the foundation of America was built on courage and freedom. The dedication ceremony will serve as a tribute to Reynolds’ service and commitment to supporting his fellow veterans, highlighting the impact he had on his community and the lasting legacy he left behind.
