Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced the opening of four new resource centers in partnership with L.A. County to assist Angelenos affected by the catastrophic wildfires. These centers will provide a one-stop location for individuals to access relief funds, job placement and training, temporary employment opportunities, small business loans, emergency shelter, rental assistance, and help with filing taxes, among other services. The centers aim to simplify the application process by providing one-on-one assistance to individuals in need.
Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez highlighted the secondary effects of the wildfires on various industries and highlighted the need for city support for those who have lost income and are struggling financially as a result. The resource centers will be available to individuals regardless of their immigration status.
Located in West Los Angeles, Northeast San Fernando Valley, West Adams/Leimert Park, and Boyle Heights, the centers will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mayor Bass emphasized the importance of providing support to those affected by the fires and ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to recover. The community is encouraged to utilize these services to navigate the challenges brought on by the devastating wildfires.
