A 15-year-old boy in Fall City, Washington, has been charged with five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder after allegedly shooting his parents and three siblings. The boy called police claiming that one of the victims had killed the rest of the family and then himself. However, investigators determined that the claim was false and that the teenager had staged the scene. The surviving 11-year-old sibling told police that her brother shot her family with a Glock handgun. The teen’s lawyers have stated that he is innocent and has no criminal history. The family was well-known in the community and the father worked as an electrical engineer. The company he worked for expressed sadness at the loss of their colleague and his family. The boy’s father was shot four times, the mother had two gunshot wounds, and the three children were also shot. Council member Sarah Perry called the situation “terrible” and expressed sympathy for the lives lost. The surviving sibling has been released from the hospital. The boy was arrested the day of the shooting and is being held in a juvenile detention facility. The charges have been filed with a designation of domestic violence, and there is a firearms enhancement for the attempted murder charge. The investigation is ongoing, and the family is struggling to make sense of the tragic loss.
