Teenager David Martínez scored the equalizer early in the second half to help LAFC secure a 1-1 draw with Austin FC on Wednesday night. Austin took the lead in the first half with a goal from Jáder Obrian assisted by Osman Bukari. Martínez’s goal, assisted by Ryan Hollingshead and Eduard Atuesta, earned LAFC a point in the match. This was Martínez’s second goal in his 11th career appearance for the team. The draw keeps LAFC winless in their last four games but extends their unbeaten streak against Austin to six matches.
Hugo Lloris made two saves for LAFC, while Brad Stuver stopped five shots for Austin. The result leaves Austin with a 3-8-4 record on the road, while LAFC maintains a strong 9-2-4 home record. LAFC also leads the all-time series against Austin with a 7-1-3 record.
This was the second time these two teams played to a 1-1 draw this season, with the first match ending similarly in June. Despite the draw, both teams will look to secure more points in their upcoming matches as they continue their quest for a spot in the playoffs.
