LOS ANGELES – A key prosecution witness testified that a man charged with murder in connection with the drug overdose deaths of two women allegedly said, “dead girls don’t talk.” David Brian Pearce, 45, is accused of the deaths of model Christy Giles and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola in November 2021. A grand jury indictment also charges him with sexual assault against seven women between 2007 and 2020. Co-defendant Brandt Walter Osborn, 45, faces accessory charges.
The witness described how the two women were left outside separate hospitals after a night of partying with Pearce and Osborn. Toxicology reports found a mixture of drugs in the victims’ systems. Ansbach testified that Pearce provided drugs to the women and expressed concern about their well-being. The witness also detailed the events leading up to the women being found dead or in critical condition outside the hospitals.
The prosecution claims that Pearce is a sexual predator who did not care about the women’s lives, while the defense argues that the women ingested drugs before meeting Pearce. Pearce’s attorney suggested the women may have unknowingly taken fentanyl. Osborn’s attorney stated that his client was not aware of the drugs involved and acted to get the women medical attention. Giles’ mother hopes for swift justice in the case. Pearce remains jailed, while Osborn is out on bond.
