Ryley Fick of Gardena and Jason Yang of Los Angeles both secured victories in their second consecutive Long Beach Marathon on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Fick won the women’s race with a time of 2 hours, 54 minutes, and 42 seconds, while Yang clinched the men’s marathon in 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 26 seconds. The Long Beach Marathon, celebrating its 40th anniversary, saw over 22,000 participants across various events. Legacy runners Kenneth Williams and Tom Frost, who have participated in all 40 Long Beach Marathon weekends, shared their experiences and motivations for continuing to run the race. The race was scheduled to begin earlier due to an excessive heat warning in Los Angeles County, but organizers were able to start the event successfully. Participants ran through various neighborhoods in Long Beach, finishing the race on Ocean Boulevard.
