San Bernardino County had the lowest rental vacancy rate in February in Southern California, according to a report from ApartmentList. The study looked at available units at larger complexes on the website to track the availability of rental properties. The recent wildfires in Los Angeles County in January created an increased demand for housing, making the rental market tighter in the region.
In San Bernardino County, the vacancy rate was at 3.7% in February, making it the fifth-tightest market among large U.S. counties. The vacancy rate in the county had decreased by 0.2 percentage points in two months, making the search for rental properties more challenging for residents.
In Los Angeles County, the vacancy rate was at 4.9% in February, down 0.1 point from December. The availability of rental properties also decreased due to the wildfires. Other counties in Southern California, such as Riverside, Ventura, Orange, and San Diego, also experienced changes in vacancy rates in February compared to December.
Overall, the rental market in Southern California remained competitive, with San Bernardino County having the lowest vacancy rate in the region. Jonathan Lansner, the business columnist for the Southern California News Group, highlighted these findings in the report.
