CSUN Men’s Basketball Team Defeats UC Irvine in Big West Showdown
The Cal State Northridge men’s basketball team secured an 84-72 victory over UC Irvine in a Big West showdown, ending a six-game losing streak against the Anteaters. The Matadors, with a record of 19-7 overall and 11-4 in the Big West, have now won six games in a row.
Coach Andy Newman praised his team’s defensive efforts, pointing out Marcus Adams Jr., who scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half. On the other side, Torian Lee stood out for UCI with 20 points and 10 assists.
UCI coach Russell Turner expressed disappointment over his team’s defensive performance, highlighting CSUN’s dominance in the second half. Despite a halftime lead for UCI, CSUN’s offensive strength and defensive efforts led to their victory.
