The Genesis Invitational: More Than Just Golf – Daily News

The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines South course wrapped up this weekend, culminating in a win for Ludvig Aberg. The tournament, which was moved from its usual location at Riviera due to wildfires in Pacific Palisades, served as a fundraising platform to support recovery efforts. Various initiatives, including “Birdies for Good,” raised substantial funds for fire-affected areas.

SoCal natives Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala also contributed to fundraising efforts with their individual pledges for each birdie and eagle made during the tournament. Despite the challenges of relocating the tournament with just over three weeks notice, TGR Live director Mike Antolini expressed satisfaction with the outcome and emphasized the positive impact the event had on the community.

The tournament, originally known as the Los Angeles Open, has a long history in the region and will return to Riviera next year for its 100th anniversary. Moving forward, organizers remain committed to supporting local communities and continuing to make a meaningful impact through the tournament.
