KQLH (92.5 FM) is a low-powered FM station in Yucaipa that plays music from the ’40s, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and beyond. It also features public affairs programming and local community information. Despite not subscribing to Nielsen ratings, KABC (790 AM) continues to have a loyal following, including the John Phillips show with Randy Wang. Meruelo Media’s stations, including Power 106 (KPWR, 105.9 FM) and KDAY (93.5 FM), did not show up in ratings reports last holiday season due to negotiations with Nielsen. The future of radio seems to be shifting towards apps, as transmitter sites become vulnerable and electricity costs increase. Nik Carter is taking over as host of “Off the Record” on KLOS, the longest-running radio program of its type, following Joe Benson. The history of the show remains unclear.
