The Santa Margarita girls basketball team saw their season come to an end with a 67-47 loss to Harvard-Westlake in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. Harvard-Westlake’s dominance in the paint and on the boards was too much for Santa Margarita to handle, as they outscored and outrebounded them significantly. Bella Spencer and Valentina Guerrero stood out for Harvard-Westlake, with Spencer recording 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists, while Guerrero added 20 points. Santa Margarita struggled with turnovers, committing 20 throughout the game. Despite a valiant effort, Santa Margarita was unable to overcome Harvard-Westlake’s strong defense. Harvard-Westlake will move on to face Chaminade in the quarterfinals. Santa Margarita’s Madi Lam led the team with 18 points, while freshman Ella Palmer added 14 points. Coach Seyram Bell praised her young team’s effort and resilience throughout the season, highlighting their impressive journey in Division 1 playoffs.
