A fire broke out at the luxury London hotel and restaurant, Chiltern Firehouse, known for its celebrity clientele, forcing approximately 100 people to be evacuated. More than 100 firefighters and 20 fire engines battled the blaze that engulfed the historic building in Marylebone. The former fire station, dating back to the 19th century, has hosted stars like Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Tom Cruise.
The hotel was set to host the Netflix party after the BAFTA awards ceremony on Sunday. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the fire was contained by late Friday evening. The London Fire Brigade stated that the fire started in ducting on the ground floor before spreading to the roof of the four-story hotel. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the firefighters successfully contained the blaze in the complex historic building. The hotel’s owner, Andre Balazs, announced that the venue would remain closed until further notice.
