Severe storm causes mudslides, evacuations, and warnings in Los Angeles.

A winter downpour in Los Angeles triggered mudslides over Mulholland Drive and prompted evacuations in areas previously affected by wildfires. Around 8 inches of mud covered the famous roadway in the Hollywood Hills, but homes above were deemed stable. Emergency flash flood warnings were issued for burn scars from recent wildfires, but all warnings were canceled by 8 p.m. local time as heavy rain moved out of the area. Evacuation orders were issued for various areas, with an NBC News crew capturing video of an SUV being swept into the ocean. Mandatory evacuations were also issued in Orange County due to mudslide fears. Ventura County issued an evacuation warning near burn scar areas from the Mountain Fire. As of Thursday afternoon, 32 million people were under flood watches as heavy rain continued to soak the state, with rainfall expected to range from 1 to 3 inches along the coast and in the valleys, and up to 6 to 10 inches in higher terrain.
