Fresh addition to the 120-year legacy of Peters & Sons: Welcome our new owner! | Lifestyle

Peters & Sons Flowers and Gifts in Spokane, Washington is gearing up for Valentine’s Day with a new owner taking over after more than 30 years in business. Susan and Ray Matteson, the current owners, have decided to pass the baton to Caitlin Collins, who fell in love with the business and its history. Despite the transition, the Mattesons have agreed to stay on through Valentine’s Day to help Collins navigate one of the busiest times of the year in the floral industry.

With 150 total delivery orders expected between February 13 and 14, Peters & Sons Flowers and Gifts will be bustling with activity as loyal customers come in to bid farewell to the outgoing owners. Customers like Rob Ogden appreciate the tradition and are glad to see the business continue under new ownership.

For the Mattesons, this final Valentine’s Day is bittersweet as they say goodbye to a business that has been a part of their lives for decades. Susan acknowledges that leaving will be hard, as the business and its customers have become like family to them.

As the shop prepares for one last busy holiday season under the current ownership, the transition to new ownership brings hope for the continuation of the 120-year legacy of Peters & Sons Flowers and Gifts. Despite the challenges of entering the floral industry during such a busy time, Collins is eager to learn from the experienced owners and carry on the tradition of providing beautiful flowers and gifts to the Spokane community.
