LOS ANGELES – Long Beach State’s men’s volleyball team showcased their dominance once again with a second consecutive sweep against defending national champion UCLA. The top-ranked LBSU secured a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 victory in their latest showdown at Pauley Pavilion.
Daniil Hershtynovich led the charge with 11 kills as Long Beach boasted an impressive .442 hitting percentage. Skyler Varga and Moni Nikolov contributed with nine and seven kills, respectively, while Sotiris Siapanis chipped in seven kills for the undefeated team.
UCLA, ranked third, put up a fight with Cooper Robinson’s 16 kills, hitting .542, and Andrew Rowan’s 31 assists and six digs. However, Long Beach’s strong performance proved too much for the Bruins.
The victory marked Long Beach State’s first sweep of UCLA since 2022 and their first at UCLA since 2019. The intense matchup showcased the talent and determination of both teams, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead in men’s college volleyball.
