Pasadena residents Yvette Pompa and Kevin Whitaker, along with artist Roberto Marques from Dallas, Texas, came together at a vigil for the victims of the Eaton fire on January 18, 2025. The fire, which began on January 7, resulted in 17 confirmed fatalities and over 9,000 structures destroyed.
Among the deceased were identified individuals such as Dalyce Curry, Erliene Louise Kelley, and Evelyn McClendon. Marques aimed to provide a space for people to pay their respects to the victims of the tragedy. The vigil attracted a diverse group of individuals, including those who lost their homes in the fire, and brought a sense of community support in the face of the tragic event. Despite the somber atmosphere, attendees found solace in coming together and honoring those affected by the disaster. The vigil ended with a sense of unity and hope for healing in the community.
