New buses from Olectra Greentech feature cutting-edge blade battery technology

Olectra Greentech Limited, a subsidiary of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), unveiled its new electric bus models featuring blade battery technology at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The company showcased its redesigned 12-metre blade battery platform, a new blade battery chassis, and updated nine-metre city and 12-metre coach e-buses. The blade battery, developed by Chinese automaker BYD, underwent rigorous tests and proved to be safe, durable, and efficient.

The blade battery is 30% lighter than traditional LFP batteries and provides 30% more energy storage, allowing the buses to travel up to 500 km on a single charge. It can withstand extreme weather conditions and is safer in accidents due to its design. Olectra Greentech Chairman and Managing Director KV Pradeep emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and improvement in the electric mobility sector.

Olectra Greentech, which received a massive order for 5,150 electric buses from MSRTC, Maharashtra, also manufactures electric tippers for various industries. The company’s buses are currently in operation in 10 states and one Union territory. With a focus on enhancing manufacturing and technology capabilities, Olectra Greentech aims to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in electric transportation. The adoption of the blade battery technology reflects the company’s dedication to sustainable and efficient electric mobility solutions.
