At least three killed in Russian airstrike on Kyiv

Russian forces conducted a drone and missile strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, resulting in at least three deaths and three injuries. The attack damaged a metro station, a water pipe, and other infrastructure in the city. Rescue workers faced challenges in clearing the debris and assessing the damage caused by the strike. The Ukrainian military reported destroying a significant number of drones and missiles launched by Russia in various parts of the country during the overnight attack. Additionally, the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia was also targeted, resulting in injuries and damage to an industrial facility. Prior to these attacks, a missile strike on President Zelenskyy’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih killed four people and damaged an educational facility. Russian forces’ airstrikes on cities behind the front line of the invasion have become regular occurrences, with a focus on destroying critical infrastructure. While Russia has yet to comment on these specific attacks, they have historically denied targeting civilians in their military operations.
