Angel City re-signs Two-time World Cup winner Christen Press

Two-time Women’s World Cup winner Christen Press has re-signed with Angel City for the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League season. Press, who was the team’s first signing for its inaugural season in 2022, has agreed to a one-year deal as a free agent after recovering from a serious knee injury last year.

The 36-year-old soccer star, who posted on Instagram that “LA, it was always you,” has an impressive track record with the U.S. national team, winning the World Cup in 2015 and 2019, as well as a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She has played 155 games for the national team, scoring 64 goals and providing 43 assists.

Press scored two goals in eight games for Angel City last season before tearing her ACL and undergoing four surgeries. She made a successful return to the field, playing in nine games.

In a statement released by the team, Press expressed her pride in representing Los Angeles, her home city, and her excitement to continue playing for the fans who have supported her throughout her career. Press and fellow World Cup winner Tobin Heath host the popular women’s soccer YouTube series, The RE-CAP Show.

Fans can look forward to seeing Press back in action on the pitch for Angel City in the upcoming season, where she hopes to continue inspiring with her strength and resilience.
