SCC unveils new $37 million Sandhills Global Technology Center in Lincoln


Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska has unveiled a new state-of-the-art technology center after two years of construction. The center is aimed at addressing the skill workforce gap in southeast Nebraska and will house four technology-related programs: Biotechnology, Design Drafting, Information Technology, and Electronic Systems. The facility is expected to see a 40% increase in attendance from the 700 students already enrolled. The total cost of the project was $37 million, with $7 million raised from private funding, including a $5 million donation from Sandhills Global. The city also contributed $4.8 million towards the project. The building is set to open its doors to students next week.

In addition to the new technology center, Southeast Community College will be opening the largest welding program in the country in August. This expansion highlights SCC’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technology programs to meet the demands of the workforce in the region. The new technology center is a significant investment in the future of education and workforce development in Nebraska, showcasing the college’s dedication to preparing students for successful careers in the ever-evolving field of technology.
