Altadena Community Church Congregants Find Hope and Healing After Fire Devastation
The Altadena Community Church, a historic place of worship, was gutted by the Eaton fire on January 7, leaving many of its congregants without homes. Rev. Paul Tellstrom, who announced his retirement just two days before the fire, led a joint service with Montebello Plymouth Congregational Church to pray and support those affected.
Names of those who lost homes were read aloud, including Bill Wentzel and Martin Lo. Despite their personal loss, they found comfort in coming together for worship and community. Parishioners were urged to focus on healing and support, rather than the physical building that was lost.
The congregants shared stories of loss and hope, reflecting on the church’s history and the support they have received during this difficult time. The service was a reminder of the strength of community and the importance of coming together in times of crisis.
The church may have been destroyed by the fire, but the spirit of unity and faith remains strong among the congregants of Altadena Community Church.
