The Los Angeles Lakers’ home game against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday evening at Crypto.com Arena is scheduled to proceed as planned following the postponement of their previous two home games due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The NBA also postponed the Clippers’ home game against the Charlotte Hornets at Intuit Dome.
The Lakers will retire Michael Cooper’s No. 21 jersey on Monday as originally scheduled, honoring his Hall of Fame induction last year. Both the NBA and NBPA announced a $1 million donation for immediate relief to support those affected by the fires. Lakers coach JJ Redick lost his rental home in the Palisades Fire.
To support relief efforts, the Lakers will host a donation drive at their upcoming games at Crypto.com Arena, as well as a drive-thru donation drive at their training center in El Segundo. Non-food items such as toiletries and clothing, along with food items like protein snacks and water, are encouraged for donations.
Fans attending Lakers games can also contribute to the donation drive with collection bins located outside the arena entrances. The Spurs at Lakers game will take place on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBA TV and Spectrum SportsNet.
