Pasadena officials and Los Angeles County have announced the postponement of the 2025 Point-in-Time Homeless Count due to ongoing concerns over the deadly Eaton fire and other blazes. Originally scheduled for this month, the count will now take place at the end of February at the earliest. The decision was made in order to focus on recovery efforts and supporting those affected by the fires.
Dan Davidson, Homeless Count Consultant and Coordinator, expressed gratitude to volunteers and partners for their patience and understanding during this adjustment to the timeline. Officials are urging the community to remain on standby and join the event in February to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
The City of Pasadena and Pasadena Partnership to End Homelessness recently conducted the 2024 Point in Time Homeless Count on January 23 and 24. For more information, individuals are encouraged to visit the Pasadena Partnership website or contact Dan Davidson and Erika Fay Gottfredson via email.
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority announced the postponement of the countywide count for at least 30 days, in response to the wildfire crisis impacting the county. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved this decision, recognizing the challenges posed by the ongoing fires and displacement of individuals.
LAHSA CEO Dr. Va Lecia Adams Kellum emphasized the importance of conducting the count when conditions are safe to ensure reliable and accurate data on the current state of homelessness in the community. The agency is grateful for HUD’s understanding and flexibility in granting the postponement.
