A former senior associate athletic director at USC, Joyce Bell Limbrick, has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the university, alleging racial discrimination and harassment by former athletic director Mike Bohn. The lawsuit accuses Bohn of isolating Bell Limbrick and making sexist and racist comments. Bell Limbrick was terminated after raising concerns about Bohn’s behavior, despite receiving a merit increase just two months earlier. USC has stated they are reviewing the complaint and declined to comment on pre-lawsuit discussions. Bell Limbrick’s lawyer claims she was terminated for speaking out against USC and seeking accountability for Bohn’s actions. The lawsuit seeks damages and affirmative relief to address discriminatory and retaliatory acts within USC’s athletic department. Bell Limbrick, one of a few Black women in her position nationwide, alleges her career was negatively impacted after Bohn’s hiring in 2019. The case highlights issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within collegiate athletics and the challenges faced by marginalized individuals in the industry.
