Daily News: Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Gabe Vincent sidelined in game against Blazers

LOS ANGELES — The Lakers were without Anthony Davis and Gabe Vincent in their game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to injuries. Davis had a sprained left ankle that he originally suffered on Christmas Day, while Vincent had a strained left oblique. Coach JJ Redick said they were being cautious with Davis due to lingering soreness.

In their absence, Jaxson Hayes and Christian Koloko stepped up to fill the void. The Lakers acquired Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, and they made their debuts in the loss to the Cavaliers. Redick acknowledged that it will take some time for the new players to adjust to the team’s system and terminology.

The Lakers played a back-to-back with the Blazers and the Hawks, with Davis and Vincent’s statuses still uncertain. Despite the challenges, the team remained optimistic about their ability to integrate the new players and continue to compete at a high level.
