The aviation analytics firm Cirium has released its 2024 annual on-time performance list, revealing Aeromexico as the most punctual airline of the year with an 86.7% on-time arrival rate. This marks a significant improvement for the Mexico City-based carrier, which has made technological upgrades and increased profits since emerging from bankruptcy in 2022. Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) and Delta Air Lines followed closely in second and third place, respectively.
In the US, United Airlines ranked second domestically and tenth overall with 80.93% on-time arrivals, showing potential to surpass Delta in the future. Alaska Airlines saw a decline in its on-time performance, while Southwest Airlines overcame challenges from the previous year with a 77.77% on-time arrival rate.
For travelers heading to Asia in 2025, Japan Airlines Co., All Nippon Airways, and Singapore Airlines were listed as the most punctual airlines. In Europe, Iberia Express and Iberia led the rankings. Avianca, which also emerged from bankruptcy like Aeromexico, ranked within the top 10, showcasing a year of comebacks for many airlines.
The list highlights global airline performance, with Aeromexico at the top, followed by Saudia, Delta Air Lines, LATAM Airlines, Qatar Airways, Azul Airlines, Avianca, Iberia, Scandinavian Airlines, and United Airlines.
