Kawhi Leonard to sit out Clippers’ upcoming trip in favor of more 5-on-5 practice – Daily News

Clippers star Kawhi Leonard continues to make progress in his recovery from right knee issues, participating in a five-on-five practice on Thursday. However, he will miss his 31st game of the season against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Leonard will also not travel with the team for their upcoming trip, instead staying back to practice with the G League team. Coach Tyronn Lue emphasized the importance of Leonard getting more five-on-five practice before he is cleared to play in an NBA game.

The team’s schedule, with three games over the next five nights and five in nine days, presents a challenge in getting Leonard enough practice time. Despite the setbacks, Leonard’s progress has been noticeable according to teammates. The Clippers also mourned the loss of former CEO Dick Parsons, who played a crucial role during the ownership transition following the Donald Sterling scandal. The Clippers will face the Warriors on Friday night at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
