The Eastvale Roosevelt Mustangs are coming into this basketball season as a force to be reckoned with, as they proved by winning the Tarkanian Classic Platinum Division championship. Despite falling behind by 15 points early on, the Mustangs defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 76-58 with Brayden Burries leading the charge with 26 points. Issac Williamson and Dominic Copenhagen also contributed to the win.
Roosevelt’s victory at the Tarkanian Classic showcased their potential and talent, with Burries being named the tournament MVP. Notre Dame, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat of the season despite Tyran Stokes and Zachary White putting up impressive numbers.
In other Tarkanian Classic results, Redondo Union took third place in the Platinum Division, Leuzinger won their division in overtime, and Seattle Rainier Beach defeated Westchester with Tajh Ariza scoring 36 points.
On the girls’ side, Sierra Canyon remained undefeated and won their division with center Emilia Krstevski leading the team with 23 points.
Overall, the Tarkanian Classic was a showcase of top basketball talent, with standout performances from multiple players and teams. The Mustangs’ championship win serves as a reminder to not doubt their abilities this season.
