The top-ranked UCLA women’s basketball team dominated Creighton with a 70-41 victory in the Bay Area Women’s Classic. Despite missing star player Lauren Betts, who is sidelined with a leg injury, the Bruins put on a strong performance led by Kiki Rice’s 20 points. Angela Dugalic added a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
UCLA’s defense stifled Creighton’s top shooters, holding them to just 1 for 13 from the field in the first quarter. The Bruins built a big lead early, shooting 11 for 22 in the opening quarter and finishing with a 42-23 lead at halftime. The team also dominated the boards, outrebounding Creighton 59-26.
Creighton’s Morgan Maly led her team with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome UCLA’s commanding play. UCLA now looks ahead to their next game against Nebraska in a Big Ten matchup on December 29.
