Long Beach Medical Center and OneLegacy have a longstanding partnership to promote the impact of organ and tissue donation. Compton’s family, former care team members, and OneLegacy collaborated to create a floragraph made of organic materials for the parade float, “Let Your Life Soar.” The theme of the float honors organ, eye, and tissue donors, their families, and recipients. Compton’s love for koi fish inspired elements of the float, symbolizing strength, courage, and health. The hope is that the float will inspire viewers to consider organ donation and register to become donors. Compton’s family expressed gratitude for the opportunity to honor his memory and impact.
