UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger has announced his decision to forgo his final season of eligibility and declare for the NFL draft. Schwesinger, a former walk-on who had a standout season, led the Bruins in tackles and received multiple accolades including being named an Associated Press First Team All-American and a Butkus Award finalist.
Schwesinger’s departure leaves a gap in UCLA’s linebacker corps, but the team has already added Benjamin Perry from Louisville via the transfer portal and is reportedly targeting more transfers to fill the void.
In addition to Schwesinger’s announcement, UCLA also announced the hiring of Burl Toler III as the team’s pass game coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and wide receivers coach. Toler, who previously coached at Cal, is praised for his ability to develop players and his knowledge of the West Coast recruiting landscape.
With changes in the coaching staff and roster, UCLA football is gearing up for the next season with high hopes for continued success.
