FBI agents recently searched the home of Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Brian K Williams as part of an investigation into an alleged bomb threat against city hall. The Los Angeles police department had initially responded to the threat earlier this year and determined that Williams was likely the source. The investigation was then referred to the FBI.
Williams’ attorney stated that his client maintains his innocence and is cooperating with investigators. Following the search, Williams has been placed on administrative leave by LA Mayor Karen Bass. The mayor’s office emphasized the seriousness of the matter and stated that LAPD initially found no immediate danger but referred the case to the FBI for further investigation.
Williams has a history of public service, having served as a deputy mayor in the past and working on various public safety and law enforcement issues. He has not been arrested or charged in connection with the bomb threat allegations. The FBI continues to investigate the case.
