Clippers shine in the second half to defeat shorthanded Mavericks – Daily News

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 118-95 on Thursday night, as Norman Powell led the way with 29 points. The Mavericks were playing without star guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, with first-year Maverick Klay Thompson stepping up with 22 points. Ivica Zubac added 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Clippers.

The Mavericks struggled without their key players, scoring their fewest points of the season and suffering their most lopsided loss. The Clippers dominated the third quarter, outscoring Dallas and shooting 69.6% from the field.

Clippers guard Kris Dunn was ejected for a flagrant foul late in the third quarter, adding to the intensity of the game. Harden went a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, and Powell played a solid second period.

The teams will meet again on Saturday for the conclusion of the two-game series, with the Mavericks hoping to bounce back from their challenging night. The Clippers will look to continue their success and maintain their strong bench scoring.
