House Republicans are calling for an investigation into Liz Cheney’s role on the Jan. 6 committee

Cassidy Hutchinson, a key witness, testified about Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, including his attempt to go to the Capitol after the rally. Hutchinson’s testimony has been corroborated by some witnesses but disputed by others. Cheney has been accused of assisting Hutchinson in obtaining legal representation and communicating with her without her lawyer’s knowledge. The FBI is being called upon to investigate Cheney’s role in potentially tampering with a witness and violating laws related to perjury. Hutchinson’s attorneys have stated that she stands by her testimony to the Jan. 6 committee, and her account of events on the day of the riot has been supported by some witnesses.
