Hannah Kobayashi, who went missing last month in Los Angeles, has been found safe, the LAPD confirmed. The mystery surrounding her disappearance, which prompted a large search effort and missing persons investigation, captured global attention. Kobayashi’s family expressed their relief and gratitude that she was found unharmed. She had been heading to New York City for a new job when she missed a connecting flight at LAX and was reported missing by her family on 11 November. Her father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically died by suicide during the search for her.
It was later revealed that Hannah had voluntarily crossed into Mexico at the San Ysidro border crossing, about 125 miles south-east of LA. This decision to disconnect from modern connectivity was described by LA police chief Jim McDonnell. With Hannah now safe, the LAPD has concluded their investigation and the family has requested privacy as they heal and process the ordeal. The community’s outpouring of support during the difficult time has meant a lot to them.
