NYPD scuba team conducting search in Central Park waters for evidence related to shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO

New York City police are conducting a thorough investigation into the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The police department’s scuba team is searching the waters of Central Park for evidence, including the gun used in the killing. Additionally, gun-detecting police dogs were used in Fort Tryon Park, and subway stops near the George Washington Bridge were searched for evidence.

The person of interest, believed to be the gunman, is still at large, and police believe he may have left New York City. Photos of the individual have been released, and a backpack found in Central Park is believed to belong to the shooter. The backpack contained only a jacket and some Monopoly money.

Thompson’s killing has sparked discussions and criticism of the American health insurance industry, as he was the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The gunman’s possible motive has not been revealed, but shell casings found at the crime scene had words like “deny,” “delay,” and “depose” written on them.

UnitedHealthcare has faced complaints from customers in the past, and Thompson had received threats prior to his death. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the gunman’s arrest, in addition to other rewards already offered.

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information they may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem, as the investigation into Thompson’s killing continues.
