This past weekend, high school football teams across the CIF-SS and L.A. City competed in championship games. On Saturday, Newbury Park, Oxnard Pacifica, Murrieta Mesa, Highland, Silverado, Pasadena, and Pioneer all emerged victorious in their respective divisions. In the L.A. City Section, King/Drew and Chatsworth were crowned champions in Division I and II, respectively.
On Friday, Mater Dei secured a win against St. John Bosco in the CIF-SS Division 1 championship game, while other winners included Edison, Palos Verdes, Rio Hondo Prep, St. Pius X-St. Matthias, Portola, and Palmdale. In the L.A. City Open Division, Narbonne defeated San Pedro.
Notable performances included Newbury Park’s tough victory over Murrieta Valley, Chatsworth’s comeback win against South Gate, and Panorama’s first-ever City title win. Palmdale also held off Carter in a close game to clinch the CIF Southern Section Division 12 championship. Overall, the weekend showcased thrilling matchups and impressive displays of talent on the football field.
