Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura High School has left a lasting legacy in the world of cross country and track. She recently won her third consecutive Division II girls’ individual title at the CIF state cross-country championship meet, making it her seventh individual state championship overall when including track and field events. Engelhardt’s incredible time of 16 minutes and 57.6 seconds was more than 30 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. She has now committed to North Carolina State for her collegiate career.
The meet also saw impressive performances from other athletes, including Evan Noonan of Dana Hills who won his third straight individual title in the Division III boys’ race. Trabuco Hills had a standout day, setting a team record and winning the Division I girls’ team title, with Rylee Blade of Corona Santiago taking the individual title.
In the boys’ races, J.R. Lesher of Hueneme won the Division II title, while El Toro claimed the Division II girls’ title. Oaks Christian emerged victorious in the Division IV boys’ race, and South Pasadena took the Division III girls’ championship title with Abby Errington as the individual winner. Additionally, sophomore Amelia Sarkisian of Brentwood secured the Division V girls’ title.
Overall, the CIF state cross-country championship meet showcased the incredible talent and dedication of these young athletes, with Sadie Engelhardt standing out as a true star in the sport.
