New charges have been filed against Colorado dentist James Craig, accused of fatally poisoning his wife with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline. In addition to the murder charge, Craig is now facing charges of solicitation to commit first-degree murder and perjury, related to an alleged plot to kill a detective involved in his wife’s case. The detective had worked on the investigation into Angela Craig’s death after she became sick and died in March of 2023. James Craig was previously reported to have purchased cyanide online weeks before his wife’s death and to have dosed her protein shakes with it and tetrahydrozoline, found in eye drops.
Craig’s lawyer withdrew from the case just before these new charges were filed, leaving it unclear if Craig has new representation. The lawyer reportedly withdrew due to concerns about his client’s behavior. Despite evidence suggesting Craig’s involvement in his wife’s death, including his internet search history and purchase of cyanide, there has been no direct evidence presented in court showing his involvement. The trial has been indefinitely postponed as a result of these new developments.
Authorities have also reported that Craig was in jail with an inmate twice, seeking to have the man murder the detective involved in the case. No charges have been brought against the inmate in connection with this case. The investigation into Angela Craig’s death continues, with authorities pointing to Craig’s internet activity and suspicious purchases as key evidence in the case.
