After suffering a torn ACL last year, Michelle Ruano, a 34-year-old Costa Mesa resident and United City FC standout, has made an inspiring comeback to the soccer field. Ruano never gave up on her dream of playing professional soccer and worked hard to recover from her injury. Despite not having extensive experience playing at higher levels, Ruano caught the attention of the Swedish professional women’s soccer club Kristianstads DFF and participated in a weeklong trial with them. Her age and injury did not deter the team from considering her as a potential player.
