The ball from Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam to be auctioned off in December

Ten-year-old Zachary Ruderman thought he was leaving school early to get his braces removed, but instead, he was surprised by his parents with tickets to Game 1 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium. During the game, Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam, with Ruderman and his father ultimately ending up with the ball in the right-field pavilion.

SCP Auctions in Southern California will be auctioning off the historic baseball in December, with the auction house predicting that Freeman’s ball could fetch seven figures, following the record-setting sale of Shohei Ohtani’s 50th home run ball for $4.392 million.

UC Capital, an investment firm, purchased Ohtani’s ball and put it on display in Taiwan. The Ruderman family expressed their hope that Freeman’s ball will also be available for public viewing, ideally displayed at Dodger Stadium for all fans to enjoy.

The auction for Freeman’s grand slam ball will run from Dec. 4 to Dec. 14, offering fans the opportunity to own a piece of baseball history. The Ruderman family is excited to see where the ball ends up, stating, “Our family hopes the baseball will be displayed in Dodger Stadium so all Dodgers and baseball fans can view a very special piece of history for the city of Los Angeles.”
