Since his conviction, various city departments, including the San Diego Police Department, have purchased over $1 million in equipment from Omni.
Tilotta’s involvement in the scandal, which centered around a powerful sheriff’s captain engaging in illegal activities, led to his conviction for forging paperwork in gun-trafficking schemes. However, despite serving a six-month prison sentence and losing his firearms dealing license, Tilotta’s business has not only survived but continues to operate successfully.
Despite concerns about Tilotta’s criminal history, city departments have continued to do business with Omni. SDPD has made multiple purchases from the company, including during Tilotta’s prison sentence. The city’s Contracting and Purchasing Department, as well as other departments, have also purchased equipment from Omni.
Tilotta, a US Marine Corps veteran, has a history of heroism and selflessness, as highlighted by a dramatic rescue he performed. Despite his ongoing legal challenges, his business remains operational and continues to be a supplier of equipment to various city departments.
The future of Omni and its relationship with the city remain uncertain as officials evaluate Tilotta’s role in the company. However, with no clear plans to discontinue business with Omni, it appears that the company will continue to be a source of equipment for San Diego departments.
