Police Track Masked Thieves After Break-In at Windsor Castle Estate
Police in England are actively searching for two masked thieves who recently broke into Shaw Farm, a working farm located on the 15,800-acre Windsor Castle estate. The incident occurred on October 13 around 11:45 PM, while the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, were reportedly residing nearby at Adelaide Cottage.
The burglars made their entrance by scaling a six-foot fence before fleeing the scene with a black Isuzu pickup truck and a red quad bike, according to Thames Valley Police. Their escape was enabled by smashing through a security gate with the stolen vehicle. Authorities have yet to make any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
Although the royal couple was in close proximity at the time of the break-in, police have confirmed they were not in any immediate danger. However, the incident has raised concerns given the couple’s status as parents of young children. NBC News royal contributor Emily Nash highlighted the importance of security for the royal family, emphasizing that such breaches are unsettling, especially in what is generally considered a secure area.
This incident marks the second major security breach at Windsor Castle in recent years. In December 2021, a man armed with a crossbow entered the grounds with intentions to harm Queen Elizabeth II and later received a nine-year prison sentence for treason.
At the time of the burglary, King Charles and Queen Camilla were not present, as Charles was in Scotland and the Queen on a trip to India. The royal family members have their own security details, and there have been no official comments from Kensington Palace or Buckingham Palace regarding the recent theft. The police continue their investigation into the matter.
