Country singer Sundance Head, winner of Season 11 of ‘The Voice,’ was injured by a stray bullet at his ranch in Texas. The 46-year-old singer was taken to a hospital in Tyler, where he was stabilized after the round lodged in his stomach. His agent, Trey Newman, said no surgery was scheduled, as the bullet had missed all vital organs. Head’s wife, Misty, confirmed on his Facebook page that surgery would not be needed.
The agent suggested that the bullet likely came from a hunter’s gunfire nearby and that the incident was not self-inflicted. The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has not released more information about the incident. Head posted a photo on social media of a large tent, stating that he woke up to silence.
Head was coached by Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’ and won in 2016. He toured with Shelton the following year, released four albums in his career, and returned to the show for Shelton’s send-off in 2021. Despite his father, Roy Head, being a musician, Sundance did not pursue music until he was 33. Before ‘The Voice,’ he had struggled to advance beyond the semifinals on ‘American Idol.’ NBCUniversal Media, LLC owns both ‘The Voice’ and NBC News. Fans are encouraged to send prayers for Head’s recovery.
