San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association is hosting its annual holiday gift sale on November 22nd and 23rd at their member shop in the Miramar area. The event will feature over 2,400 handcrafted wood pieces, including decorative reindeer, jewelry, serving items, and more. The sale is a great opportunity to support local woodworkers and bring home unique, artisanal pieces.
The SDFWA is one of the largest woodworking clubs in the U.S., with close to 1,300 members. The organization also hosts the national Design in Wood exhibition each summer at the San Diego County Fair. The holiday gift sale showcases the talent and creativity of San Diego’s woodworking community and provides a glimpse into the craftsmanship displayed at the Design in Wood exhibition.
The sale not only offers a chance to purchase one-of-a-kind wood pieces but also contributes to the funding of the club’s member shop and skill-building classes for members. With an increasing number of residents in San Diego taking up woodworking as a creative outlet, the SDFWA is seeing more diversity in its membership, including women, young members, and individuals from different backgrounds.
The proceeds from the sale support the club’s operations, including maintaining the member shop and providing educational opportunities for members. The SDFWA is run entirely by volunteers who oversee all aspects of the shop and administration.
