Karoline Leavitt appointed as White House press secretary by Trump

President-elect Donald Trump has selected Karoline Leavitt, his campaign press secretary, to serve as his White House press secretary, making her the youngest in history at 27 years old. Leavitt has been praised by Trump for her communication skills and effectiveness. Trump has been known to disrupt traditional norms by serving as his own chief spokesperson during his first term, but has promised to have regular press briefings in his new administration.

Leavitt, a New Hampshire native, has been a strong advocate for Trump and has previously worked for a super PAC supporting him. She also ran for Congress in 2022, winning a primary before losing to the incumbent Democrat. Leavitt has experience working in the White House press office during Trump’s first term and later served as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Trump’s previous press secretaries, Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany, all played different roles in their interactions with the media. Spicer and Sanders were known for quarreling with reporters, while Grisham never held a briefing. McEnany often lectured the media during her appearances in the White House press briefing room.

Leavitt’s appointment as White House press secretary represents a continuation of Trump’s unconventional approach to media relations and communication. Her experience in politics and advocacy for Trump make her a strong candidate for the position.
