Elon Musk’s X Corp. Submits Notice in Alex Jones’ Infowars Bankruptcy Proceedings

Attorneys for X Corp., a firm established by Elon Musk to take over Twitter, have filed a notice of appearance in the bankruptcy case of Alex Jones and his Infowars platform. The new owners of The Onion, who were successful bidders for Infowars alongside families of Sandy Hook massacre victims, are involved in the case. However, the Texas bankruptcy judge overseeing the case has expressed concerns about the transparency of the auction process and has called for a new hearing to discuss potential issues.

Judge Christopher M. Lopez stated that nobody should feel comfortable with the results of the auction. The purpose of X Corp.’s appearance is undisclosed in the filing, which was reported by Mother Jones. The lawyers representing X Corp. did not respond to requests for comment, and neither did the lawyer representing The Onion.

Both Musk and Jones are supporters of President-elect Donald Trump. Jones has used Infowars to promote conspiracy theories, misinformation, and far-right ideologies, leading to defamation lawsuits by Sandy Hook victims’ families, with Jones being ordered to pay $1.5 billion in damages.

The Onion’s CEO, Ben Collins, refuted claims made by Jones and Infowars personnel that the auction had been “overturned” and described their allegations as “wacky.” Collins looks forward to completing the process at the next court date. A representative for Infowars has not responded to requests for comment.
