As the weekend of racing unfolds at Del Mar, it features prominent jockeys and trainers vying for top honors. Hector Berrios and Antonio Fresu currently lead the jockey standings, each with six wins, followed closely by Kazushi Kimura with five. On the training front, Mark Glatt stands out with five victories, while George Papaprodromou and Peter Miller each have four wins to their names.

This weekend, significant stakes races are set to highlight both Del Mar and Los Alamitos tracks. Del Mar will host the $100,000 Desi Arnaz Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Saturday and the $100,000 Grade III Bob Hope Stakes for 2-year-olds on Sunday. Notably, trainer Bob Baffert is expected to dominate the Desi Arnaz Stakes with four of the five fillies, including the morning-line favorite Silent Law, who remains unbeaten.

Meanwhile, Los Alamitos features a potent lineup of races, including the $75,000 Las Damas Handicap on Saturday and Sunday’s $20,000 Z Wayne Griffin Directors Trials. The Las Damas Handicap promises an exciting contest with several local stakes-winning mares, including Nymphette, Frivolous, and Jessica Cruz.

Quarter-horse racing also shines with Bp Cartel Policy clinching a narrow victory in the $763,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby, securing a spot in the upcoming Champion of Champions.

Additionally, the Santa Anita Park infield is bustling with equestrian competitions, including the Los Angeles National and the prestigious Santa Anita CSI5*-W, drawing top riders from around the country.

With remarkable stakes races and key performances to anticipate, the Del Mar weekend promises to be an exhilarating experience for horse racing fans.
