Hoover City Schools has announced the appointment of Kelli Lane as the new Chief Technology Officer. With over 20 years of experience in educational technology, Lane has been instrumental in the advancement of innovative technology initiatives in classrooms, transforming the way technology supports teaching and learning. Lane, who joined Hoover City Schools in 2014 as the director of technology integration, has led the district’s data and technology coach teams and promoted data-driven decision-making and seamless technology integration in classrooms. Recognized as a leader in educational technology, Lane has received numerous awards for her contributions to classroom technology integration.
In her new role, Lane will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating technology initiatives district-wide, managing technology budgets, and overseeing the district’s technology infrastructure and instructional tools. Superintendent Dr. Kevin Maddox praised Lane for her vision and leadership in benefiting students, staff, and families and highlighted her innovative approach to the future of technology in education.
Lane holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education, a master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an education specialist degree in educational technology leadership from Lesley University, and an administrative certificate from UAB. She is also a Certified Google Administrator and Google Educator, among other certifications.
Lane expressed her excitement to continue collaborating with the district’s team to drive innovative solutions that enhance classrooms, emphasizing the importance of utilizing technology to inspire students and support educators. Her vision and dedication to technology-driven learning are expected to benefit students, educators, and the Hoover community for years to come.
